We’re pleased to announce the release of a new Microsoft Health CUI resource — the Clinical Documentation Solution Accelerator (CDSA) for Microsoft Office.
The CDSA is an add-in for Microsoft Office Word that enables you or your customers to define and create clinically encoded documents. Documents can be created based upon ready-made templates (for example, for a Discharge Summary or a Referral) retrieved using the Microsoft Office System.
Clinically Encoded, Interoperable Documents
The CDSA utilizes the MSCUI Toolkit and UI Design Guidance to show how Microsoft Office Word can be used to create documents that contain clinically encoded data (for example, using SNOMED CT®). The documents facilitate the sharing of information across care boundaries, for example between Hospital and Family Doctor, using industry standard document formats (such as the Health Level 7 (HL7) Clinical Document Architecture (CDA)).
Access Clinical Data Sources
The resources we’re providing illustrate how you can gain access to clinical data sources, such as encoding services or drugs reference data, directly from the Microsoft Office Word document itself. These clinical data sources can be internal to your organization or external, perhaps from a cloud platform or Windows® Azure™ source.
Getting Started
We’re shipping this Solution Accelerator with a wealth of supporting resources: from worked example document templates (Cardiology Referral and Discharge Summary templates) through to template developer documentation and ‘How-to?’ videos.
More Information
Like the MSCUI Toolkit, we’re making the Clinical Documentation Solution Accelerator available with full source code, so you can integrate it into your healthcare solutions today.
